What are the requirements for joining a class?

Classes are conducted in English and are open to all. No prior reading or understanding of any spiritual book/ philosophical literature is necessary. Register for a class on the Weekly Classes page. Choose any class, whichever one you can attend most consistently.

There are so many classes. How do I choose the right class for me?

The Institute offers six classes per week. They are held at different days of the week, weekdays and weekend. Also at different times of the day. This is to enable people from different walks of life to access the knowledge. Choose any class, whichever you can attend most consistently. If you miss a class you can catch up within a week by watching the recording which would be available on our YouTube channel. In the end it doesn’t matter which class you choose. All of them would lead you to the same understanding. The different books provide different facets to the same philosophy of Vedanta. The core content is the same in all the books that are covered in these classes. The style of Bhaskarji’s teaching is that he provides several examples and explains the concepts in a relatable and practical manner. Class members are encouraged to ask questions and reflect upon the teachings.

I am in the corporate sector. How does this apply to me?

The business world lacking self-management is afflicted with worry, anxiety and stress. This leads to loss of efficiency and productivity. The knowledge of Vedanta provides the technique of self-management which enables one to gain the elusive combination of efficiency at work and peace within. Bhaskarji with three decades of teaching and experience presents practical techniques of self-management which increase productivity, reduce stress, and develop essential components of leadership.

Who is Bhaskarji, the teacher?

Bhaskarji will be personally conducting all the weekly classes and the various in-person and online events. He is a senior disciple of Swami A. Parthasarathy and has graduated from a three-year residential course on Vedanta philosophy from the Vedanta Academy in India. He has over three decades of experience in teaching and guiding others towards a more peaceful, successful and spiritual lifestyle. His name is Bhaskar Ramachandran. We affectionately and respectfully address him with a “ji” – a suffix added to the name in the Indian tradition, a term of respect. Find out more about Bhaskarji by clicking here.

I am interested in learning more about this. Where do I start?

Any form of introduction to Vedanta is a good start. But an ideal introduction would be to drop in at the online weekly classes. If you happen to be close to an in-person event such as the Annual Public Lecture or the Wisdom Retreat, then come along and you can meet our team of volunteers and interact with the Vedanta class members and volunteers.

Does this apply to people from all backgrounds e.g student, homemaker, professional etc?

Vedanta has a universal appeal. It equips you to make the right choices in life, in all fields, at all times. There are no do’s and don’ts. It doesn’t matter what your economic, social, ethnic or religious background is. Vedanta is as much applicable to a business and political leader as it is to a homemaker and a student. Vedanta provides the technique of right action which can be applied everywhere. Vedanta trains you to think, reflect and understand the fundamental truths of life.
